How do I register my domain name?
To register any of the latest top level domain names -- .com, .net, .org, .biz, .info, .us, .ca and more, simply enter your desired domain name into our domain search box located on the left hand navigation bar, and click go.

Does NetNation handle all types of domain registration?
Yes. NetNation registers domains through our accredited domain name registrar, DomainPeople Inc. For country code domains, we submit your application to the appropriate country registrar.

Do you offer a "web site coming soon" page?
When you register or transfer a domain, and park it on our servers, you receive a free parking page indicating the domain is reserved and a web site is coming soon. Find our more about Domain Name Registration.

I already have a domain with another registrar but would like to host with NetNation. What do I need to do?
Your Domain Name Servers (DNS) currently point to your registrar's server. They need to point to NetNation's servers for your hosting account to be set up. We will contact you by email with instructions on how to transfer your DNS once you've ordered your hosting package.

How long does it take to register or transfer a domain name?
Registering a top level domain name takes just seconds and you will receive instant verification. Registering a country domain may take longer, depending on the turnaround time of the registrar involved. Transferring a domain name to NetNation depends on the registrar responsible for the domain name. The modification will usually be propagated throughout the Internet within 48 hours.

Can multiple domains point to the same HTML files?
Yes. You can forward multiple domains to your web address as part of the Domain Name Registration.

Can I ever have my domain name taken away?
There are extenuating circumstances in which your domain could be taken from you. You are required to ensure that, to the best of your knowledge and belief, neither the registration of the domain name you seek to register nor the manner in which it will be directly or indirectly used will infringe the legal rights of a third party. All top level domain name registrants are required to abide by the terms of the Uniform Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy ("UDRP"). The UDRP was adopted by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers ("ICANN") on October 24, 1999 and sets forth the terms and conditions which govern disputes between you and any party other than NetNation concerning your domain name registration.

What is ICANN?
Formed in October 1998, the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) is a non-profit, private sector corporation recognized by the U.S. government as the entity to coordinate the technical management of the Internet's domain name system, the allocation of IP addresses, the assignment of protocol parameters, and the management of the root server system. ICANN is located at http://www.ICANN.org.

What is a registry?
A registry creates and maintains the database of domain names for a given top-level domain. It receives domain name system (DNS) information from domain name registrars, inserts that information into a centralized database and publishes the information in zone files on the Internet so that domain names can be found by users around the world via the Web and email.

The registry is responsible for managing the top level domain system for specific domains. Here is a list of the main top level domain registries.

.COM, .NET - verisign.com
.ORG - www.pir.org
.BIZ - neulevel.biz
.INFO - afilias.info
.NAME - www.gnr.com
.US - neustar.us
.CA - cira.ca

How will I be notified if my domain name will be expiring soon, or has already expired?
If your domain name registration is approaching its expiry date, an email notification will be sent to the administrative contact of the domain at least 30 and 7 days prior to expiration with instructions to renew the domain. This contact will also be emailed a post expiry notification if the domain has not been renewed within 5 days after the expiry.
